Abstract

As mentioned in other recent writings (Sousa, E: 2026; 2024), cities, which, in their different stages of expansive territorial evolution with a peripheral orientation, their functional specialization in the secondary and tertiary sectors, their high population growth rates, and the diversity of their land uses, have become sui generis urban agglomerations, today we call them metropolises.
