The military museums of Metropolitan Lima have been spaces for the protection of national heritage and especially of war, but their recognition as cultural assets and their relationship with the community are still limited. Despite conserving buildings of high heritage value and historical collections, its management is fragmented and unrelated to a comprehensive approach. The main objective of this study is to explain the relationship between the urban environment, the object, the subjects and the heritage values of the headquarters buildings of the military museums of Metropolitan Lima, in 2025. As a main conclusion, it is possible to highlight that there is a great diversity of urban contexts, objects, subjects and heritage values, as well as interrelations and incidences between them, in the headquarters buildings of military museums in Metropolitan Lima. Among the challenges to be faced are the lack of official registration, the scarce participation of the community in its social use, as well as the need to rethink its museographic narrative in order to dialogue with various communities and citizens, in a more friendly, inclusive and interesting way.
